How To: Wearing Ripped Denim

June 6, 2012

Distressed denim is by no means a new trend. It’s around every season in some new shape, style or form. There’s just something about the cool, carefree, sexy look of ripped denim that makes it sort of the anti-classic classic. And few things are as quintessentially summer as cut-off denim shorts.

Personally, I love the mix of casual, cool pieces with more refined pieces. Like how mixing ripped denim with high heels, tailored blazers and flowy blouses adds interest and keeps things from looking, well, lazy.

Outfit Post: Teal Jeans & Lace Top

June 5, 2012

Picked up these teal jeans at Target over the weekend and I love them. Have I mentioned my love for teal? It also seems I can’t get enough of my neon-accent necklace from wearpanache.com. I love it when I find a piece that spices up just about any outfit!

I’ve been noticing more and more teal items of clothing in my closet. I just really love this color. So I had a little fun picking out other teal items I thought would be very fun to own.

Outfit Post: Navy & Neon

May 31, 2012

Does this necklace look familiar? I fell in love with it when picking out clothes for the Good Day Utah segment. So instead of returning it I decided to keep it. I’m just a complete sucker for neon accessories.

Dressing Down a Pencil Skirt

May 30, 2012

I work in an office with a dress code that’s, well, kind of hard to describe. Some people wear jeans and t-shirts every day while others wear skirts and suits. Personally, I prefer to fall somewhere in between. I figure it’s safest that way. And while I love a good pencil skirt, I feel overly dressed if I put something like a button down or blouse on top. So I came up with some outfits that I think dress down a pencil skirt pretty effectively. Of course, the color of this pencil skirt helps to keep it from looking to formal, too.

What’s the dress code where you work? What ways would you dress down a pencil skirt?

Outfit Post: Teal and Leopard

May 29, 2012

It may have been the unofficial start to summer this weekend, but it was cold and wet here in Utah. It’s not unusual for it to snow here in May by any stretch of the imagination, but it still gets to me every time. One plus to some cooler weather, however, is getting to wear scarves. I’ll take any perk I can get.

How was your Memorial Day weekend?
