The next step: Drafting a pattern and creating a muslin

December 29, 2011

Originally, I had planned to fill my sketchbook with designs before I started attempting to draft patterns. But, well, let’s just say I got impatient and jumped ahead a little. (Sidenote: Impatience and procrastination are my dueling downfalls.) I had fairly good reasoning for it, I think. My imagination was coming up with ideas I could never create a pattern for, so I figured I’d better get started on the basics so I could get better.

Anyway, I spent the day (well, a good chunk of it) creating a pattern and sewing a muslin. First attempt = 60% success.

What I wish every day of my life looked like.

The cut-out pattern pieces.

Fitting it on Gerty. It looks like a skirt, but...

the waistband needs some serious work. At least it's a start.
